I have a few minutes this morning to think back on the past week, and it has been a busy one - not even counting work. Last Saturday we had the Pinewood Derby races for Collin & Parker's pack. Parker placed third, and unfortunately was a very poor sport about it , since he placed second last year, and doesn't get the concept of doing worse (maybe the fact that more than three cars were entered in his den this year had something to do with it). Lots of anxiety.
His week got even worse as he had an endoscope exam Tuesday to try to figure out why his stomach has been hurting him, and apparently he's overly anxious. (Perhaps the first sports-related injury associated with Pinewood Derby racing). But he was very brave and everything turned out well, and he is working on being a little more mellow.
Then we had the district derby races yesterday at the mall, and Parker unfortunately didn't do well in those, and was cranky at even being there. The bright side was that we were able to have a nice lunch at Burger King afterwards with Grayson - who had his doctor's exam that morning to get his health forms filled out for BSA campouts.
Grayson then had football tryouts at the Boys & Girls Club yesterday afternoon for their spring flag (sort of) football. Although he's disappointed it isn't tackle (he really likes hitting people) he did really well - passed okay (he's the one in the middle) ran good routes and generally caught everything within reach (although passes that are thrown right into his gut tend to bounce out - he has to work on that). All those recess games at Trinity are paying off, as we try to turn him into the next Jay Novacek (or at least get him to attend the Jay Novacek camp this summer so his mother can actually meet Jay Novacek, which is pretty much the real goal here).
Then last night Jamie and I went to the Marshall Symphony Ball and had a great time with our friends. We were out pretty late, so we're getting a slow start this morning, especially since the boys are still at Mimi and Papa's.
