Had a great Fourth yesterday! We started by dressing up in red white and blue for church, then having a terrific lunch at Jim & Marie's, then home for an outstanding two hour nap. Then back up and out to the Knights of Columbus hall for the St. Joseph's Parish Fourth of July party, where we ate again.
A highlight was getting to see Monsignor Priest, who came down from Texarkana. I did most of my altar server work for Msgr Priest growing up, and he married Jamie and I nearly fourteen years ago. He also gave Jamie a blessing for twins at our wedding, and obviously it worked. (Yesterday we got a blessing for triplets, so obviously we are going to have some issues to work through...)
Grayson and Parker competed (unsuccessfully) in the three-legged race , and Grayson got nailed in the snowball fights, as you can tell (those with sharp eyes will see a Hub Shoe Store ad in the framed Marshall paper behind him, which was announcing the formation of Marshall's KC council in 1909). I particularly like this picture of our priests, Father Denzil, who became an American citizen this past year (hence the Fourth festivities) and his fellow priest from Sri Lanka Father Ravi, who has been visiting St. Joseph's for the past three months. (Obviously cowboy hats are part of the Sri Lankan national costume). At the end of the evening we watched fireworks, and then headed home.
