I stopped back by the Hub on an errand this morning and amidst a blizzard of plaster dust the rockers have completed the kitchen, my office, the entire east wall and the boys' "treehouse" above and behind my office.
Jim and the carpenter, Wes Kramer have also cut out the three hidden doors that we're putting in the back wall of my office for the boys to open and say hi from their treehouse.
The picture below shows, for the first time, the three study carrel spaces
the boys will have upstairs (in the otherwise unusable side space where the walls dip down to five feet). Of necessity the spaces are not uniform - there's a three, four, and five foot space so they can take whichever space they need depending on who's got a school project and who's doing homework or just reading. They'll have plain countertops and fluorescent strips, and the five-footer will have an undercounter set of drawers for supplies (there's a wall of shelving off-camera to the left).
