One of the more fascinating parts of the Hub renovation is reconstructing the old mezzanine on the 111 side, shown in the back of the 1940's photo. The floor and some of the shelving is there, but the columns and the parapet around the opening are gone, and have to be rebuilt using only a couple of photos, the witness marks on the remaining woodwork, and some fragments of the long-gone railing that once enclosed it, as shown in this tight closeup of the same view in 1928. Today I'm studying these photos to try to come up with a plan for the reconstruction - when Jamie gets back from working out at the Life Center I may run down and try to measure things to nail down how exactly this can be rebuilt.
