Thanksgiving 2009 meant starting some new traditions, beginning with eating Thanksgiving dinner early out at Mimi's in Arlington before the big game (well, it was just Oakland, but still...). We then returned to the room to work on our sign for the game (which with three boys who take coloring very seriously was way more fun than actually using it at the game). We enjoyed the game a whole lot more (seven plays over 20 yards will do that) and spent the evening in the hotel room resting.
Next day was a tour of the stadium so we could see where the rich folks sit, as well as the Cowboys and cheerleader locker rooms. Also took a picture of the boys at the postgame interview table and of me with my herd with the statue of Coach Landry. Then it was off to Six Flags with the boys for the evening, which they absolutely loved.
Saturday was a late start getting out of the hotel room, and after we could not locate a sitter for the boys so Jamie and I could go with her college friends to see the Baylor v. Texas Tech game, she and Grayson went and I took Collin and Parker for a wild evening with Dad starting at the closest Half Price Books for a couple of hours, followed by - yes, I know it's a lot of excitement for a couple of seven year olds - several more hours at the nearby Barnes & Noble where I sat on the floor in the kids' section and read books to them. They had a ball, obviously. We picked Jamie up at the stadium at 9 and headed on home. All in all, a good holiday - except that Jamie wants to get the tree up today...
