I'm getting so addicted to Steve Berry that I bought this book the day that it came out. Overall I thought it was a solid effort. It's terribly formulaic, but that's what I'm looking for when I buy it so that's not a bad thing. One thing that was difficult early on was that there are several admirals and/or captains with similar names and who appear both in the present and in flashbacks at reduced ranks, and I was deep into the book before I could keep straight who was who. I always look forward to Berry's end notes about the history behind the story, since he is meticulous about following the history that's there as far as it goes. One other thing that was amusing was that a sizeable chunk of the action is set at Biltmore Estate and its Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. Jamie and I have visited both, mostly recently staying at the Inn for several days for our anniversary last year, so it was entertaining to watch a thriller with scenes set where we had breakfast every day. We didn't eat at the McDonalds just outside the gates, but we did see that it had a piano inside - and did have a great dinner across the street at Rezaz.
