I've been at home alone all weekend finishing up chapters of my rules book, and last night decided that this gore-fest was probably appropriate, since I wouldn't have to keep the boys out. I thought it was awfully good - well-made, and the acting throughout was very good. Leonidas and his wife were good, and the easily-cartoonish Xerxes was outstanding - great costume design and great acting in a difficult role to be taken seriously. I've liked Frank Miller's work going back over 20 years to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and saw the comic of this a few weeks ago, so I had some idea what the basis was. The weakest point, to me, was the narrator. While I had a soft spot for anyone associated with Lord of the Rings, his voice kept reminding me of his comic character in Van Helsing. Actor was fine - just the voice.
Still working on the documentaries, which are a little tougher to follow on a Blu-Ray.
