Grayson and I watched this the night of the 22nd (he started watching it again last night) but obviously we haven't had time to do anything since then. It says a lot for how much attention I've paid to Star Trek lately that this came out in 2002 and I'm just now watching it. Of course, given that the two-disc "special edition" was $9.95, apparently others didn't either either.
It wasn't a bad movie at all - in fact there was nothing I disliked other than Data's makeup - which is pancake sweaty white - completely unbelievable on a big screen, and I can't figure out why it wasn't changed several movies ago. The script was good, the acting was good, there was great action - I'm not sure why I didn't really like it more. The thing that I particularly liked was Patrick Stewart - he looks better and better with age - the extra weight and lines in his face give him a gravitas that Star Trek has never really had with anyone else. Oddly, we later learned that my dad died at approximately the same time Grayson and I watched Data's death at the end of the movie.
