No, this isn't me getting carried away with World War II movies - it was just the only kids movie we saw at Blockbuster that they didn't already have, so we rented it Saturday, and I watched with Collin & Parker Sunday after work. Collin ditched us pretty quick, but Parker (who had actually already watched it that morning) watched it with me again.
You would think that a movie about the critical role played by carrier pigeons in World War II couldn't be funny and, well, it wasn't. All the bird jokes were done first by Chicken Run and while I admired the gymnastics of making a war movie that never mentioned the Germans, Nazis, or the actual conflict by name, the movie just never really came together, I didn't think. (Of course watching this essentially simultaneously with Band of Brothers is not a good idea). But it was good getting to sit and watch something with Parker, who enjoyed it enormously - especially the game at the end, where we got all three medals (he was very excited about that).
