I have watched this before a couple of times, but pulled it out again this afternoon to see how it does with the new screen and subwoofer. Really is a fine movie, and gets better with each viewing. The historical detail is amazing - I really enjoyed learning what life aboard a sailing warship (complete with lower ceilings) was like. The action and plot are good, and the acting is superb - some of the best by Paul Bettany. I have to admit that this was not how I ever pictured Aubrey or Maturin, but then I only read the first three books of the series, and was always comparing him (unfavorably) to Hornblower.
The cinematography is really striking, and I enjoyed that, and the sound effects during combat are great with the subwoofer puffing away. Good popcorn movie.
