Just finished this very interesting book on the history of "sea monsters". Ellis details the history and mythology of the various sea "monsters" - squid, octopus, shark, etc., and then goes into excruciating detail regarding their biology. It bogged down seriously in the interminable discussion of what we know about various squid (not giant squid - we know so little about that species that he extrapolates from other better-known species) and took a while to wade through, but I did finally finish and though I learned a lot.
