The Hunt for Red October

Picked this up the other night after reading the original Clancy book, and it was as good as I remembered.  Better than the original, actually.  The decision to set the story before Gorbachev was a great idea, and I particularly liked the way that they started the Russians speaking Russian and then had them change to English at the end of a camera move - beautiful touch there.  Much like Lord of the Rings, the movie's story is actually better than the book's - the action is more condensed and extraneous scenes and characters have been deleted.  Overall a really great action movie.  Other than some less-than-perfect special effects (still very good for 1990) nothing bad to say about this one.
