Paper: "Rules to Worry About in Federal Court in the Eastern District of Texas"

2007_eastern_district_rulesThis morning I am speaking at the Jefferson County Bar Association's Everything You Wanted To Know About Beaumont Federal Court seminar in Chief Judge Thad Heartfield's courtroom in, you guessed it, Beaumont.  The speakers include Dave Maland (Clerk's Office & Filing Procedures) Judge Earl S. Hines (Removal and Remand & Other Jurisdictional Conundrums), Zack Hawthorn (Criminal Law & Criminal Appointments), and Shane McClelland (Pretrial Proceedings in Civil Cases).  I am preceded by a panel discussion with Judges Heartfield, Clark, Crone, Hines and Giblin, before I speak on  Upcoming Changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (I fudged the topic a bit), followed by Judge Ron Clark on Patent Law.  My paper is attached here Download 2007_federal_court_rules_in_the_eastern_district_of_texas.pdf and the PowerPoint is at Download 2007_eastern_district_rules.pdf both in pdf.
